Groups
Groups allow a user to control access to their library items. [h id=createGroup]Create a Group[/h] To create a group, visit the Library page and click the [i]Groups[/i] button. From the drop-down menu click [i]Add[/i]. Type a name for the group in the dialog box and click [i]OK[/i]. You can create as many groups as you wish. Group names can include spaces. [h id=groupLibrary]Associating Library Items with a Group[/h] By associating items in your library with a group you control the files and folders that are accessible to selected contacts and chat rooms members. Each group appears as a column in your library items list. This column controls the availability of each library item to the group's associated contacts or chat rooms. [b][u]Key to Icons[/u][/b] [b][color=red]Red Cross[/color][/b] (default): Item is not accessible to the group. [b][color=green]Green Tick[/color][/b]: Item is accessible to the group. [b][color=gray]Grey Dash[/color][/b] (folders only): Descendent items are a mixture of accessible and inaccessible to the group. [h id=groupContacts]Associating Contacts with Groups[/h] By adding a contact to a group you grant them access to the library items associated with the group; those items will appear in search results and your browsable library. To add a contact to a group expand the [i]Contacts[/i] pane, right-click on the contact, and select the group from the [i]Groups[/i] menu. [i]Note: The Groups menu will only appear in the context menu if you've created at least one group.[/i] A contact can be a member of multiple groups. [h id=groupChat]Associating Groups with Chat Rooms[/h] By associating a group to a chat room you grant all online members of that chat room access to the library items associated with the group; those items will appear in search results and your browsable library. To associate a group to a chat room navigate to the [i]Chat[/i] page, right click on the chat room, and select the group from the [i]Groups[/i] menu. [i]Note: The Groups menu will only appear in the context menu if you've created at least one group.[/i] A group can be associated with multiple groups. [h id=groupTips]Tips & Use Cases[/h] [i]Public[/i] library items are searchable and browsable to all users. Therefore there is no need to associate public library items to a group. Share private files with select friends and family, and prevent access to the network at large, by creating a group, disabling public access and enabling group access to the library items, and finally adding your friends and family contacts to the group. Share niche or thematic files with a similarly-themed chat room by by creating a group, disabling public access and enabling group access to the library items, and finally associating the group to the chat room.
